found a technics sl-1200 at goodwill for 40 dollars did i win

walked into a goodwill on a whim and there it was on a shelf next to a bread maker. 40 bucks. i think i blacked out a little. cue lever is loose and theres no dust cover wich i dont care about, but the platter spins dead steady. is this as good as i think it is?? what do i check before i put a record i care about on it

    Before you put anything good on it: check the rca cables for crackle by wiggling them while its playing, spin the platter by hand and feel for any grinding or wobble, and look at the stylus tip under a loupe or your phone camera zoomed in. If the tip looks flattened or theres a visible hook, replace it before you play anything you care about, because a worn stylus on a great deck still ruins records. Loose cue lever is usually just the damping grease gone hard. It's a known fix and theres a hundred videos on it.
