How do I clean a used record without ruining it

picked up like 30 records at a garage sale for almost nothing and a bunch of them are grimy. not scratched grimy, just dusty and kind of sticky in places. im scared to touch them with anything. do i need one of those brushes everyone talks about or is there a diy thing that works. dont want to wreck them before ive even heard them

    For garage sale finds I do a wet clean. A few drops of dish soap in distilled water, microfiber cloth, wipe gently with the grooves and not across them, rinse with plain distilled water, then stand it up to air dry. Distilled matters, tap water leaves little mineral spots when it dries. A carbon fiber brush is great for dust before each play, but it will not touch grime that has set in.
